Information in English
In Norway you have several options in pregnancy and labor.
You can choose between seeing your midwife or your family doctor for maternity service during pregnancy, or a combination. Norwegian midwives are specialists in normal pregnancy and labor. They are more experienced than a familydoctor. (Fastlege) The midwives have at least 5 years education (3 years nurse and 2 years midwifery-school)
You can see a midwife for free at "Helsestasjonen" (the maternitycentre) in your community or you can contact a private midwife.
In Denmark, England and Netherland homebirth is a part of the public system. In Norway you have to pay for the days the midwifes are "stand by" for your labor. For more information please contact me on e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org
